North Jersey Drum and Dance: A Beat for a Cause
The North Jersey Drum and Dance (NJDD) is a gathering of drummers, dancers, and hoopers that meets the last Saturday of every other month, from 8 to 11 p.m., at the New Jersey Foundation for the Blind, 230 Diamond Spring Road, Denville. This month’s gathering takes place on September 24; the next will be November 26. Open to all, at a $12 admission fee (children under 12, free), NJDD offers a space for participants to express themselves through music or dance and fosters a sense of community. You do not need to be a musician or dancer to enjoy this event: The only requirement is an open heart, an open mind, a rhythmic beat and dancing feet! An art table is set up for one’s artistic muse to express itself, and a “grazing” area offers a place to enjoy light snacks and beverages. Handmade jewelry and clothing are available from vendors on site, and tarot readings and face painting (for an extra fee) are also featured. Monies raised help support the programs offered by the New Jersey Foundation for the Blind.
