Yoga of Eating Women’s Wellness Club Debuts in February at Purple Om

On Wednesday, February 1, from 8 to 9:30 p.m., join Christine Grasso, holistic health and nutrition coach and yoga teacher, for a free workshop on “The 7 Foods that Give You That Just-Walked-Out-of-Yoga-Class Feeling . . . All Day Long” at Purple Om Yoga, 3118 Route 10 West, in Denville. In this preview class for the upcoming Yoga of Eating Women’s Wellness Club, Grasso will share the best foods to increase energy, stamina, balance, and poise on and off the yoga mat.

As Claire Lichenstein, Purple Om Yoga studio owner, says, “I believe that healthy eating can help practitioners take their yoga practice to the next level. I decided to bring Christine in to offer this essential aspect of holistic health.” Grasso, who suffered from acid reflux and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), has combined diet, yoga and meditation to heal herself and teachers her clients how to easily prepare healthy foods that can be integrated into everyday life. Grasso will share why eating too much or too little of certain foods can be counter-productive to one’s yoga practice and offer strategies to upgrade diet and lifestyle in a sustainable way.

The Yoga of Eating Women’s Wellness Club kicks off on February 8 at Purple Om. Women who want to reduce anxiety, balance and maintain their weight, stop stomach pain and emotional eating, and build community with other like-minded women are welcome to attend.

Visit PurpleOmYoga.com to RSVP by January 30 to guarantee your seat for the free preview class. For more information, call Christine Grasso at 201-787-4950 or email [email protected].

5 Top Tips to Finding Your Next Doctor

1 Keep an Open Mind! Healthcare has come a long way. Today, you have access to practitioners that branch outside of traditional medicine and aim to identify the root causes of conditions while using alternative treatments that may help you get the relief you need. Just because it’s not a pill, doesn’t make it pseudoscience.

2 Build Your Health Care Team. There is no one doctor that can be the be-all-end-all for your health needs. Be sure to have a team of practitioners with different “lenses” and areas of expertise who will treat the root cause and not just the symptom(s).

3   Environment Influences Healing. Health is multi-factorial. Your mental and emotional environment plays a pivotal role in your healing potential. Your doctors and their staff should create an office atmosphere filled with positivity so you can get the most out of your care.

4 Your Story Matters.  Before you begin any treatment, be sure to have a comprehensive consultation to discuss your health concerns. Find practitioners who welcome questions and will take the time to listen and treat you with respect.

5 Report of Findings. When it comes to our health, we often make decisions without understanding the risk versus benefits. Knowledge is an important part of the healing process and is essential to make conscious, informed health decisions. Find practitioners who take the time to explain their exam findings and the recommendations for treatment in ways that make sense to you.
