Gluten-Free Living Essential for Healing Digestion
Christine Grasso, holistic health and nutrition coach and yoga teacher, specializes in helping women struggling with weight loss and digestive disorders to heal. Her main focus is helping her clients find their hidden food allergies to help them re-balance their digestion and lose those stubborn pounds. Through her successful health coaching practice, she has found that gluten-free eating and living is a key component to healing digestive disorders such as acid reflux and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
Grasso commented, “There’s a lot of hype surrounding gluten-free diets these days and everything from Chex to ice cream cones is being labeled ‘gluten-free.’ It’s important to note that just because a product is labeled ‘gluten-free’ doesn’t necessarily mean it’s healthy. Gluten is a ‘glue-y’ protein found in wheat, barley, rye, spelt, and kamut. It can stick like glue inside the body and lead to stomach pain, gas, digestive imbalances, acid reflux, weight gain or loss, brain fog, mood imbalances, and skin rashes.”
When a product that typically contains gluten is re-created and labeled “gluten-free,” it usually means that the manufacturer replaced the gluten with white refined carbs like white rice flour, potato starch, and/or refined sugar. Eating more of these refined carbs can lead to blood sugar highs and lows, low energy, and fatigue.
So what’s a gluten-free goddess to do? The best way to live and eat gluten-free is to eat naturally gluten-free foods like beans, quinoa, brown rice, dark leafy greens, and organic, pasture-raised meat and poultry.
Women interested in identifying if they have a sensitivity to gluten can contact Grasso for a one-on-one Take Back Your Health Breakthrough Session.
