Spring is an energizing time after getting through the often-dreary months of February and March, it is exciting to enjoy the warm weather and sunshine of April. With the longer days and the flowers poking up through the soil, spring is a great time for a fresh start. Take advantage of this time of renewal to re-boot by setting goals and intentions for getting things in order with one’s home and decor, outdoor spaces, travel plans and personal life. It is a great time to do a once-over as far as how things have been and opportunities for change.

Often it can be tricky to know where to start with goal setting and implementing change. Plan and write into the weekly schedule, two hours per week for making the changeover from winter to spring and then keep the two hours on the schedule for ongoing planning and rebalancing.

To start a spring tune-up, determine what some opportunities for change and renewal are. Thinking about ways to revitalize one’s home and garden is a great start. This is a good time to do a deep dive as far as this past season’s fall and winter holiday décor, thinking about what didn’t get used and can be donated. Since the holidays are behind us, this is a great area to have some quick successes as far as donations. Set up ongoing donation pickups and clear out what did not get used. Also, start to think about spring décor, using some of the two hours per week to place and display spring décor, being careful to donate anything that is no longer useful or needed.

Map out a plan for any outdoor plants, flowers and gardening needs. Make a simple sketch and a list of needed supplies or call a landscaper to set the plans in motion.

As far as the inside of the house, set up an ongoing donation location, with a large bag or bin for items to be donated, and keep up with scheduling ongoing donation pickups. Do a room-by-room scan of items to donate or toss, things that do not get used and are no longer wanted. This is a good first step in the task of decluttering. Take some of the two hours per week to continue these decluttering efforts going forward throughout the spring.

Next, think about any upcoming travel plans. Record these and set time on your schedule, during the two hours per week of organizing time, to do any calls, research, etc. and to put these travel plans into action.

Think about opportunities in the health areas of life. Take some time during the two hours per week to write down areas to learn more about as far as meditation and mindfulness, fitness and healthy eating.

Implementing change can be very gratifying. It can lead to feelings of confidence and pride. Use the longer days of spring and summer, and the designated two hours per week, to put in motion changes in at least a few of the areas mentioned above.

5 Top Tips to Finding Your Next Doctor

1 Keep an Open Mind! Healthcare has come a long way. Today, you have access to practitioners that branch outside of traditional medicine and aim to identify the root causes of conditions while using alternative treatments that may help you get the relief you need. Just because it’s not a pill, doesn’t make it pseudoscience.

2 Build Your Health Care Team. There is no one doctor that can be the be-all-end-all for your health needs. Be sure to have a team of practitioners with different “lenses” and areas of expertise who will treat the root cause and not just the symptom(s).

3   Environment Influences Healing. Health is multi-factorial. Your mental and emotional environment plays a pivotal role in your healing potential. Your doctors and their staff should create an office atmosphere filled with positivity so you can get the most out of your care.

4 Your Story Matters.  Before you begin any treatment, be sure to have a comprehensive consultation to discuss your health concerns. Find practitioners who welcome questions and will take the time to listen and treat you with respect.

5 Report of Findings. When it comes to our health, we often make decisions without understanding the risk versus benefits. Knowledge is an important part of the healing process and is essential to make conscious, informed health decisions. Find practitioners who take the time to explain their exam findings and the recommendations for treatment in ways that make sense to you.
