Benny’s Bodega Rocks!
Benny’s Bodega is a storefront in the downtown Newton area where people can shop for essentials at no cost. The store is filled with healthy food, new and gently used clothing, personal hygiene items, and cleaning materials. All items are donated by grocery stores, local drives, and the community. Benny’s Bodega receives no government funding. The mission of the Bodega is to help those working and still struggling to make ends meet. Benny’s Bodega is a non-profit organization and accepts donations on an ongoing basis. They also hold multiple events for fundraising and community building.
One way to help is by participating in Benny’s Bodega First 5K at 10:30am on September 10. The race starts and ends at Selective Insurance Recreation Fields, 40 Wantage Ave., Branchville. For information and to register visit TinyURL.com/Bennys5K
Another way to help the Bodega and get children involved is to hold a lemonade stand with proceeds to benefit this non-profit. “Lemonade Wars” was a successful fundraiser last year and it is back for the second year. More information is on the Benny’s Bodega Facebook page.
Location: 166 Spring St., Newton. For information, call 973-531-7582, email [email protected] and visit BennysBodega.com.
